Under the oversight of the Research Administrator:

1) Reviews proposal instructions and develop a checklist of components required. (E)
2) Complete components assigned specifically to the individual in this position. (E)

4) May enter information in ADIS and Cayuse. (E)
5) Interact with departments across campus to develop budgets and obtain forms for grants, progress reports, JIT. (E)
6) Set up Data Use Agreements and Material Transfer Agreements with guidance of UNMC’s license entity UNEMED. (E)
7) Complete progress reports and Just-In-Time information for grants. (E)
8) Read new Sponsored Programs Administration guidelines and attend SPA monthly training. (E)

Post-Award Grants Financial Management40X

1. Monitor monthly grants and research contracts account reconciliation in each IM division; contact division administrators and/or division research administrative and financial staff when delays or discrepancies occur to help resolve and move forward. (E)
2. Monitor departmental grants and research contracts portfolios for potential overdrafts, conferring with divisions on appropriate corrective action, including appropriate and compliant journal entries, effort modifications, etc. (E)
3. With SPA and IM divisions, manage changes to assigned grants and research contracts such as rebudgeting as appropriate, timely changes to faculty and staff effort as appropriate, requests for supplemental funds, no-cost extensions, and timely carryforward requests.
4. Prepare quarterly grants and research contracts accounting summary reports for departmental research administration leadership. (E)
5. Help divisions ensure compliance with federal cost accounting standards and non-federal allowable cost standards. Monitor and transfer non-allowable costs from grants as appropriate. (E)
6. Monitor and analyze variances between budget and expenses on SAP ledgers for assigned grants and research contracts to determine if they are allowable per sponsor guidelines. Investigate variances, questionable transactions, and/or charge backs. (E)
7. For assigned awarded projects, responsible for preparing follow-on annual budgets for annual progress reports, including multi-project grants, and ensuring accurate and timely submission. (E)
8. Update proposal and follow-on year budgets when informed of a Notice of Award, and communicate with divisions regarding revisions. Once approved by the PI and division, submit revisions to Sponsored Programs Administration. (E)
9. Works with departmental research leadership, principal investigators, Sponsored Programs Administration, Sponsored Programs Accounting, and granting agencies to resolve financial grant-related issues. (E)
10. Assists IM research administration in tracking grant and research contract awards and expenditures; helps prepare reports for annual report and other reports as needed. (E)

Ensures proper usage and processes in compliance with the guidelines of UNMC and other state, private sponsor and federal guidelines. Reviews and maintains revenues and expenditures of extramural funding support from departments/areas within the university to ensure proper usage of these funds in accordance with specified agreements.
