Patient Care Duties85

1. Receive and process human and environmental samples which may include: blood, urine, sputum, feces, exudates, secretions, tissue and body fluids from RPS and NPHL customers. (E)
2. Verifies the information on the specimen and requisition match by checking all incoming specimens for proper and precise labeling and collection. Notifies the appropriate personnel for any corrections. (E)
3. Orders tests as requested. Labels, distributes and/or stores (possible aliquoting) patient specimens for laboratory testing, following appropriate protocol for specimen and/or test. (E)
4. Report laboratory test results accurately to customers including STATS and/or critical values. (E)
5. Provide clients accurate information to inquiries regarding test availability, specimen requirements, test fees, and procedures of RPS and NPHL. (E)
6. Triage all inquiries via phone, or in person from Pathologists, internal and external customers, couriers etc., relating to the services provided by RPS and NPHL in a courteous and professional manner. (E)
7. Responsible for specimen collection and all aspects for legal chain of custody related to paternity testing. (E)
8. Investigates areas of customer concerns/problems and provide customer with resolution and/or notify appropriate personnel for follow up. (E)
9. Provide staffing coverage, which may include weekends and occasional evening shifts. (E)

Quality Assurance (QA)/Other Duties15

1. Perform daily QA check for accuracy on tests ordered, patient/client and other information provided on requisitions. (D)
2. Troubleshoot remote print/faxing system and work with LIS office in determining resolution. (D)
3. Perform all filing functions of test requisitions and subsequent reports as needed. (D)
4. Assist in distributing client supplies. (D)
5. Perform other duties as the need arises. (D)
