  1. Serves as the NNRC post-award administration lead, with the ability to handle a high volume of sponsored and internal fund accounting and procurement transactions and advisory duties smoothly. (E)
  2. Advises and assists faculty and staff in managing awarded research projects including management of complex budgets and ensuring completion of all sponsor and UNMC administrative requirements for successful financial and regulatory oversight. Demonstrates superior customer service and organizational abilities to expertly manage grant and contracts workflow. (E)
  3.  Prepares monthly grants/contracts reports clearly showing “budget versus actual” grant activity, encumbrances, and projected personnel costs, and meets monthly with faculty to review spending plans, discuss alternative allocations, allowable vs. unallowable costs, changes in forecast burn rates, etc.(E)
  4. Serves as a liaison with Sponsored Programs Accounting, working collaboratively to help ensure prompt processing of subaward and consulting invoices, reconciliations, annual and final financial reports, and closeout documents. (E)
  5. Serves as the P-Card reconciler for grants/contracts-related purchases. (E)
  6. Guides consultants in getting set up in UNMC payment systems and then processes grant-related consultant invoices. (E)
  7. Assists with equipment purchases, subject participation incentive purchases, service agreements and other

Pre-Award Grant Administration20X
  1. Serve as a back-up to the NNRC pre-award administrative lead, handling grant submission-related duties in times of absence or high volume, including: assist faculty members in the development and completion of grants, subcontracts, and contract applications, review, interpret, and articulate to Principal Investigators grant funding mechanisms and eligibility criteria, and serve as a liaison with Sponsored Programs Administration.   2.  Oversee the tracking and receipt of funding in a timely manner, including maintain a tracking database, provide regular updates to the administrative team, review and interpret award criteria, and develop adjusted budget plans when funding is cut. (E)

Responsible for tracking research/training grant budgets ($2.8+ million at current time) and provide input on NNRC budgets.


What impact do the decisions/recommendations made by the position have on the department/campus?:

High quality performance is essential to ensure productivity of the NNRC and research activities of the College of Nursing. Accurate and reliable records and reports are needed to continually improve research productivity of faculty at the CON. Accurate financial forecasting and tracking is imperative to maintain reputation and positive rapport with granting agencies.
