Research Division Administration40X
  • Manage the H.R. employment matters of the Research Division’s as supervisor of 7 Ph.D. faculty and the 17 staff position in multiple research labs.
  • Create position descriptions and job posting for new and existing positions.
  • Manage the interview and position selection process for new hire, ensuring that all necessary on-boarding tasks are completed.
  • Administer the $4 million Research Division personnel budget and manage the payroll process for the Division to include accurate submission of time cards and payroll reports for the 17 staff positions that will report to you.
  • Create on-line job postings and contracts as needed for existing and new faculty and post-doc positions.
  • Ensure that all personnel matters for Division’s faculty and staff positions are completed in accordance with University policy to include annual performance evaluations, disciplinary matters, compliance trainings, on-boarding and orientations, rewards and recognition, etc.
  • Review and approve all non- personnel purchases for research labs.
  • Manage the inventory and maintenance programs for the lab office and computer equipment used in research offices and labs, ensuring that proper space and equipment is available for all research and office personnel to adequately fulfill their work assignments.

  • Communicate rotation options to all new rotating medical students, which will be used to create their schedules
  • Update orientation material and welcome letter as needed.
  • Add students to the department’s software class and assign their exam. Send out orientation material
  • Create and send out evaluation forms to providers who rotate with the students for each rotation.
  • Collaborate with Co-Directors to ensure students are well informed of expectations for rotations
  • Ensure software information matches roster and allowable numbers of students
  • Depending on sub specialties chosen, communicate with rotation director directly
  • When visiting students accepted, will work with VSLO to ensure that student is approved and all steps are completed to onboard students
  • Will oversee the curricular responsibilities of the clerkship or elective coordinator to ensure standard practices and compliance.
  • At end of rotation, compile evaluations and case logs for Co-Directors in order to enter grades for the students
  • Coordinate with home school’s directors to complete all on-boarding materials
  • Obtains, verifies and completes all software entries to onboard and set up mandatory trainings
Contracted Services Administration20X
  • Prepare service agreements for 20 clinical contract service providers (10 physicians and 10 nurse anesthetists who provide occasional coverage at Nebraska Medicine.
  • Lead the credentialing process for new providers and ensure that all on-boarding activities are complete to allow clinicians to provide peri-operative anesthesiology services at Nebraska Medicine and its related clinical sites.
  • Function as the administrative leader and point person with individuals and locum tenens companies to identify potential new contracted service providers.
  • Track and record all worked hours and verify with providers at month-end that their work records are accurate.
  • Manage the tracking and payment of monthly invoices for services provided by contracted providers.
  • Work with Nebraska Medicine Legal Department to terminate service agreements for departing providers and/or create annual contract renewals for those providers who will continue to provide services.

Responsible for all facets of fiscal management for a research division with $4 million dollars in funding. Also responsible for effectively managing the $4.8 million-dollar clinical budget for contracted service providers.


What impact do the decisions/recommendations made by the position have on the department/campus?:

Given this size of the Anesthesiology Department (3rd largest department in the College of Medicine) and the 70+ clinical sites covered each day, this position has a dramatic affect on the ability of the Department to meet its clinical mission and an equal dramatic affect on the ability of department Anesthesiology supports to meet their budget targets, as well. Contracted Service providers are a key element necessary to staff all O.R., sites of service.
