Responsibilities and Duties

Preventative Security40

1. Patrol all campus buildings and grounds (consisting of more than (68) buildings and (66) parking lots) by foot, bike and vehicle. (E)
2. Lock/unlock buildings and highly secured areas as scheduled. (E)
3. Test and activate security alarms. (E)
4. Perform fire and safety inspections. (E)
5. Report unsafe conditions, i.e., water leaks, burned out lights, areas that are unable to be secured, etc. to the appropriate departments. (E)
6. Assist UNMC Parking by enforcing parking rules and regulations as needed through issuance of parking citations, immobilization of vehicles in major noncompliance with rules and regulations and towing of vehicles off campus as necessary. (E)
7. Investigate and report suspicious persons. (E)
8. Provide safety escorts as needed. (E)
9. Prepare security reports as required. (E)
10. Drive security vehicle as needed for these activities (E).

Emergency Situations25

1. Respond to emergency situations/critical incidents as outlined in the University of Nebraska Medical Center Policy and Procedures. (E)
2. Respond to and make report of suspicious behavior, disturbances, and thefts. (E)
3. Assist in emergency care situations. Respond to reports of injured persons on campus. Assist Omaha Ambulance squads unload. Clear the Emergency Drive of vehicles. (E)

Transport Items25

1. Transport monies to and from Cashier#s Office. Deliver Change Orders and Deposits to respective departments. (E)
2. Inventory, secure, and transport patient valuables from patient areas. (E)

Hospital Responsibilities10

1. Secure the Heliport during incoming/outgoing flights. (E)
2. Move deceased patients from patient units to morgue. Release deceased patients from the morgue after hours and on weekends. (E)
