1. Collaborate with the project team of internal project managers and planners, consultants, operations and maintenance staff, and others to review and monitor Utility infrastructure impact, and departmental downtime or relocations anticipated as a result of a project, and assist in providing effective solutions for all. (E)
2. Work closely with the Operations and Maintenance team to collect and disseminate information pertaining to preferred, and acceptable materials, manufacturers, and methods of construction to be used on construction projects and serve as liaison to relay that information to all designers, both internal and consultants. (E)
3. Collaborate with Planners to ensure that peer reviews of engineering designs are conducted and that all projects are produced with the highest level of quality and completeness and ensure consistency with customer needs and objectives. (E)
4. Review prepared designs for constructability, adherence to UNMC standards and fulfillment of design intent. (E)
5. Work to mitigate project risks that may compromise project budget, schedule, and/or performance. (E)
6. Work with Operations and Maintenance regarding utility outages to help facilitate new construction/renovation. (E)
7. Collaborate with campus customers and Planners to formulate project scopes and determine feasibility of infrastructure projects. Assist Planners with
infrastructure/engineering aspects of all major projects. (E)
8. Assist Planners in selection, negotiation, and management of engineering consultants when consultants are required in support of projects. (E)
9. Assist planners in developing project cost estimates and formulation of the Project Budget. (E)
10. Review prepared designs in collaboration with the compliance team to ensure consistency with all applicable codes and regulations and campus preferences. (E)
11. Assist in reviewing engineering designs for all major projects to assist in achieve campus sustainability goals. (E)
12. Provide electrical design on small scope internal projects. (E)

Facilities Department General Duties20

1. Help maintain a document of design standards for the projects and planning group to use as the minimum basis for design in University projects. (E)
2. Collaborate with projects and planning staff on the updating and maintenance of University Guide Specifications. (E)
3. Participate in the process of Document Archiving, by protecting the project files, drawings, and specifications for future use. (E)
4. Assist in continuous upkeep and monitoring of energy usage data on campus using monitoring and tracking software. (E)
5. Analyze, review, and collaborate on utilization of the building automation system to ensure optimal campus performance of electrical systems. (E)
6. Provide technical expertise to all Facilities Staff as needed for operation and maintenance, and constructability of electrical systems across campus. (E)

Customer Service and Quality Assurance20

1. Work closely with all of Facilities staff including Project Managers, Planners, Compliance, and Operations and Maintenance to ensure high quality engineering practices, design, and construction are implemented across campus. (E)
2. Facilitate external interactions with design professionals, contractors, vendors, government regulatory agencies and inspectors, to ensure that the needs of the University are fully identified and met in regard to electrical infrastructure. (E)
3. Work with Campus customers at all levels, including Chancellor, Deans, Directors, Academic and Staff Department Heads, and Business Managers to ensure approved projects satisfy the requested and intended requirements. (E)

Project Management15

1. Assist Project managers by reviewing construction estimates and project schedules in relation to engineering work. (E)
2. Assist Project managers as needed technically during the construction process and bidding to ensure high quality projects with appropriate costs. (E)
3. Assist Project managers by reviewing electrical shop drawings on projects. (E)
4. Assist Project managers during contract management to ensure that the Contractor has fulfilled requirements of the project Contract Documents in regards to infrastructure systems. Provide directions and solutions for satisfying deficiencies. (E)
5. Assist in facilitating Construction Risk Assessments with Campus Safety office, to ensure that all Life Safety and Building protection measures are identified and met. (E)
6. Assist in commissioning projects to ensure proper quality of the functioning systems at project hand off. (E)
