Tissue Procurement Coordination for Eye Donations40

1. Coordinates all aspects of potential and actual eye tissue donations for the Lions Eye Bank of Nebraska (LEBN). (E)
2. Communicates with other sources of donor information such as physicians, pathologist, and infectious disease testing laboratories to complete donor eligibility determinations. (E)
3. Extracts clinical data from patient#s medical record for entry into LEBN database for transplant. (E)
4. Completes clinical data requirements for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) mandated Human Cells, Tissues, and Cellular and Tissue-Based Products (HCT/Ps) regulations and Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA) medical standards. (E)
5. Responsible for placement of corneal tissue (transplantable and research) and for the importing from other eye banks to meet DSEK, DMEK, and PKP or surgery schedule, and for emergency purposes. (E)
6. Coordinates with other organ and tissue agencies during multiple organ and tissue donations.
7. Accurately completes the paper and donor electronic record in its entirety. (E)
8. Problems solve and makes good decisions based on best practices. (E)
9. Manages and organizes multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high quality of work and respect for the donor. (E)
10. Communicates with donor families to obtain consent and medical social history.

Tissue Processing for Eye Donations40

1. Maintains the operation of the donor tissue and the processing to ensure the compliance with the FDA regulations and EBAA medical standard. (E)
2. Assists with training technical staff on enucleations process, excision and preservation techniques. (E)
3. Performs corneal-scleral segment removal techniques to preserve tissue for transplant and other eye banks. (E)
4. Assists in the processing of DSEK corneal tissue. (E)
5. Completes preservation, packaging and labeling, and shipment of corneal tissue for transplant to transplanting surgeon. (E)
6. QAs donor chart prior to distribution of tissue for transplant. (E)
7. Responsible for call coverage on a rotating basis including nights, weekends and holidays. (E)

Office Duties20

1. Composes routine correspondence to donor families, hospitals, medical staff, enucleator, and LEBN transport of donor tissue as a method to update them on the outcome of the donor tissue. (E)
2. Maintains donor files and records in compliance with FDA and EBAA regulations and confidentiality. (E)
3. Maintains laboratories, recovery and processing instrumentation and equipment. (E)
4. Maintains lab supplies for tissue processing according to FDA regulations and SOP. (E)
5. Communicates effectively and professionally with internal/external entities. (E)
6. Maintains all referrals in database for reporting purpose to EBAA. (E)
7. Other duties as assigned. (E)
