1. Independently process and analyze the IACUC review requirements for all new IACUC applications, as well as continuing review and changes in currently approved research. (E)
2. Independently generate and maintain confidential and sensitive files pertaining to animal 
research in compliance with all institutional and federal requirements. (E)
3. Assist with organizing and managing the semi-annual inspection process. (E)
4. Independently generate timely notices to researchers regarding the requirements for continuing 
review. (E)
5. Independently monitor the expirations of currently approved research. (E)
6. Serve as a contact for institutional researchers and officials, as well as federal regulatory 
agencies. (E)
7. Independently track and monitor external submissions for the Omaha VA Medical Center animal 
research protocols. (E)
8. Member of the IACUC Committee. (E)
9. Monitor Animal Rights websites, social media outlets, USDA FOIA logs, and inspection reports.

10. Keep current with all developments in animal research, including attending IACUC training 
sessions and webinars as needed. (E)

Responsibility for IACUC oversight of all vertebrate animal research30X

1. Assist in pre-review of new applications, requests for change, 3- year de novo continuing 
review, and other actions for all research involving live vertebrate animals at UNMC (E)
2. Independently collect, process, and email IACUC review packets prior to all IACUC meetings 
utilizing the Research Support System (RSS). (E)
3. Attend monthly IACUC meetings and assist with the agenda, vote counts, review, and assist with 
documenting committee comments. (E)
4. Assist investigators in response to revisions made by the IACUC. (E)
5. Serve as IACUC representative in audits and deliberations with USDA inspectors, AAALAC site 
visitors, and other external agencies, as required. (E)
6. Possess a complete understanding of all regulatory documents governing animal research. (E)
7. Assist in creating letters following IACUC review with oversight by the IACUC Executive Chair, 
IACUC Administrator, and/or Comparative Medicine staff. (E)
8. Facilitate IACUC reviews per regulations. (E)
9. Perform moderately complex data entry into the IACUC databases. (E)
10. Independently maintain training requirements utilizing the AALAS Learning Library. (E)
11. Assist in the development, training, and implementation of the online submissions via the RSS.

12. Assist with maintenance of the IACUC website. (E)
