Knowledge Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of higher education accounting and understanding of business transaction process development. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work with all levels of University personnel. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential. Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills. The Assistant Controller must be knowledgeable of fund accounting principles and applicable governmental accounting standards. This position must be able to interpret applicable GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards as well as State of Nebraska and University of Nebraska policies, regulations, procedures and reporting requirements.

Overriding job requirement involves conveying conceptual ideas regarding matters of critical and long-range nature. Significant requirement for diplomacy, timing, and persuasion to gain concurrence or cooperation on operational issues in the face of significant differences of opinion or controversy.
