Administrative Oversight of Federal Programs60X

Provide administrative oversight, processing, and leadership for the Federal Pell Grant program & TEACH Grant program. Responsible for mandated federal as well as institutional verification programs to ensure as much accountability for FA eligibility as possible. Review and implement regulations and best practices.

Responsible for Data Transmission20X

Responsible for ensuring the receipt of FAFSA data and other related data from the Department of Education.

Supervise and Train Staff20X

Directly supervise two Financial Support Coordinators who assist with verification, citizen/noncitizen eligibility, and ImageNow. Assist, train, & troubleshoot as needed with UNO colleagues and with students and families regarding financial aid or other University issues.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities


Strong understanding of Federal, state and institutional financial aid programs, processes and regulations, with an emphasis on Federal Pell Grant and verification regulations, policies and procedures. Knowledge of and proficiency with computer-based student information systems, preferably PeopleSoft. Excellent communication and analytical skills needed. Ability to organize workload and multitask. Ability to work with confidential information, use of professional judgement in decision making, train and supervise employees. Be able to assist in other areas as assigned.

Impact


Decisions made have a significant impact on many students. This position is the primary person who administers Federal Pell Grant, Teach Grant, and Verification of Attendance. Errors reflect unfavorably on both the department and campus. Responsible for the supervision of two Financial Support Coordinators and over $22,000,000 in federal funds.


Interactions


Interacts with a wide variety of individuals to include UNO staff, faculty, and students. Frequent interaction and collaboration with colleges and departments, Cashiering and Student Accounts, U.S. Dept of Education, accounting, sponsored projects and other related areas.
