Responsibilities and Duties

Fraternity and Sorority Life Advising40X
  • Serve as the primary advisor to all four governing councils (CPC, IFC, NPHC, MGC), supporting officer leadership development, standards of excellence, and inter-council collaboration.
  • Oversee risk management education, recruitment/intake processes, new member orientation, and leadership transitions to ensure the university is in full compliance with anti-hazing laws, alcohol prevention and awareness initiatives, and registered student organization (RSO) policies.
  • Design and deliver compliance trainings for student leaders, advisors, and alumni that strengthen accountability and reduce risk.
  • Create and deliver workshops on leadership, conflict resolution, and advocacy to empower fraternity/sorority members and student leaders across campus.
Campus Engagement Programming30X
  • Support university-wide events and collaborations that increase the visibility of involvement opportunities to drive student participation.
  • Lead targeted outreach and recruitment efforts – through digital campaigns, tabling, classroom visits, and faculty/staff partnerships – to connect adult learners, commuters, transfers, and other nontraditional students with involvement pathways.
  • Design signature events, such as stroll-offs and service projects, using flexible formats (one-day, hybrid, or short-term) that consider student schedules, while strengthening campus connection and pride.
Alumni Engagement and Community Partnerships20X
  • Build alumni mentorship pipelines that connect current students to professional networks that foster student growth and intergenerational learning.
  • Strengthen community partnerships with non-profits and local businesses that highlight UNO students’ contributions to service, philanthropy, and visibility across Omaha.
  • Lead philanthropic initiatives and community-facing events (alumni panels, Greek Week, etc.) that reinforce UNO’s identity as a civically responsible metropolitan university, elevating campus reputation through student and alumni impact.
Assessment, Strategic Support, and Collaboration10X
  • Lead the development of reports, satisfaction surveys, and impact narratives that highlight student engagement outcomes and demonstrate alignment with institutional priorities.
  • Support policy development, compliance documentation, and risk mitigation strategies for fraternity/sorority life and student organizations.
  • Collaborate with campus departments, national organizations, and governing councils to advance student safety, belonging, and leadership success.
  • Leverage Assessment tools (attendance, surveys, outcome reports) to demonstrate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.

Problem Solving - Decision Making


The Coordinator of Involvement will need to address and resolve issues related to student organizations, such as disputes between members, leadership transitions, or budget concerns. The Coordinator of Involvement will be responsible for planning and executing events and programs. This involves coordinating logistics, managing budgets, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise before or during the event. Coordinator of Involvement must ensure that student organizations and fraternity and sorority life adhere to campus policies, regulations, and risk management guidelines. The Coordinator of Involvement may need to respond to crises or emergencies involving student organizations or fraternity and sorority life. The Coordinator of Involvement will need to evaluate the effectiveness of student engagement programs and initiatives. Determining the appropriate course of action when addressing student conduct issues, policy violations, or other concerns related to student organizations and fraternity and sorority life.

Interactions


The Coordinator of Involvement will interact regularly with student Fraternity and Sorority leaders and members, providing guidance, support, and resources to help them succeed. The Coordinator of Involvement will work closely with fraternity and sorority chapters, governing councils, and national organizations to support their programs and initiatives. Coordinator of Involvement will collaborate with various campus departments, including, Residence Life, Campus Safety, and Academic Affairs, to coordinate programs and events and address student needs. The Coordinator of Involvement may work with alumni of the institution, particularly those who were involved in student organizations or fraternity and sorority life, to foster connections and support for current students.
