Strong understanding of federal and state financial aid programs, processes and regulations. Knowledge of and proficiency with computer based student information systems, preferably PeopleSoft and Blackbaud. Working knowledge of scholarship awarding, practices and procedures. Ability to articulate scholarship and financial aid programs to parents and students. Strong leadership and administrative skills. Strong analytical and critical thinking, project management, problem recognition and resolution skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of faculty, staff and/or administrators. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Utilizes independent judgment to make and execute decisions that may have a significant impact on a large number of students. Some grant/loan/scholarship awarding is based on applying a standard set of criteria and awarding based on a student#s profile. Some awarding requires require interpretation of fund agreements and gathering/reviewing/analyzing student data from several sources. |
Decisions made have a significant impact on a large number of students. This position is the primary person who administers major cohort-based scholarships programs. Errors made reflect unfavorably on both the department and campus as a whole. Responsible for administration of over $13,500,000 in scholarship aid. |
Interacts with a wide variety of individuals to include UNO staff, faculty, and students. Frequent interaction and collaboration with Thompson Learning Community, Goodrich Scholarship Program, college/departments, Admissions, Student Accounts, University of Nebraska foundation, accounting, UNO athletics, and other related areas. |
