Responsibilities and Duties

Advise TRIO-SSS participants35X

Advise TRIO-SSS participants for academic success.

Monitor academic progress and provides academic advising year around and during NSE.

Strategize college success plans of action with program participants.

Document student contacts and interactions.

Monitor academic progress and provides academic advising.

Intervene with students in addressing academic problems ranging from day-to-day interventions to long term educational plans.

Confirm each program participant is meeting satisfactory academic progress, upholding full time status and preserves good standing for federal student aid.

Maintain data in accessible formats.

Plan and conduct other support services for TRIO-SSS students such as financial aid and scholarships and financial literacy assistance and education, peer advisor programs, and career and graduate school planning.

Conduct individual assessment to recommend appropriate academic accommodations, auxiliary services, and supplemental support services to ensure academic success, retention, and graduation.

Provide mentoring and life coaching20X

Provide mentoring and life coaching to program participants.

Advise students on life skills including personalized skills in time management, study skills, financial literacy, and struggles common to college aged students as well as unique personal crises.

Ensure availability to assist with personal problems arising with students at all age levels.

Maintain confidential written reports.

Assist with data collection and information gathering for the annual Performance Review (APR) report, federal grant applications, and other reports.

Supervision/Coordination/Planning20X

Oversees TRIO-SSS Academic Mentors by supervising and coordinating TRIO-SSS mentoring program. Coordinates moderated panel discussions for 1st yr. students. Plans SSS programs and workshops and other SSS activities as required. Staff Advisor for TRIO Honor Society.

Assess and evaluate outcomes15X

Assess and evaluate outcomes, program effectiveness, student performance and retention for SSS programs.

Provide appropriate referrals and support services10X

Provide appropriate referrals to DSS and other supplemental support services to ensure student academic success, retention, and graduation as stipulated in the US Department of Education TRIO-SSS grant.
