Responsibilities and Duties

  • Coordinate and implement marketing campaigns for exhibitions, events, educational programs, and membership initiatives
  • Develop and schedule content for social media platforms, email marketing campaigns, and the museum website
  • Manages and creates all advertising materials including print ads, digital graphics, brochures, and promotional collateral for event promotion and on-site marketing activities, for Museum programs and special events
  • Coordinate with designers, printers, photographers, and other external vendors to ensure timely delivery of marketing materials
  • Ensures the maintenance of brand consistency across all communications and promotional platforms
  • Directs press releases, press relationships, media advisories, and promotional communications, and serves as point of contact for media relations to outside entities, coordinating with Executive Director who serves as MONA direct spokesperson

  • Maintains regular calendar of MONA events including but not limited to: exhibits, programs, workshops, and event rentals
  • Serves as central point of contact for MONA website content development, updates, troubleshooting, and upkeep
  • Monitor marketing performance metrics and prepare reports on campaign effectiveness and audience engagement, and conduct market research and track industry trends to support strategic marketing initiatives
  • Responsible for the general MONA@unk.edu email and responds to all direct inquiries regarding media, advertising, and communications requests
  • Maintain marketing calendars, contact lists, and project timelines
  • Coordinate with University of Nebraska Kearney Art & Design department organize student intern projects

  • Serve as direct Liaison to University of Nebraska Kearney, Univ Communications & Marketing division, to coordinate utilization of University staff and resources for content development and creation, as well as production assistance
  • Represents MONA at various Community Partner Organizations, such as Kearney Cultural Partners

This position requires someone who has a mindset of promotions and marketing, with experience working at an art museum, museum, or other cultural institution, in marketing, social media, and content development (online, offline, printed or digital). Must have the ability to create original content, work closely with staff to create compelling materials that will drive visitation, and promote the operations of the Museum.

The Marketing Coordinator regularly identifies and resolves communication, scheduling, and promotional challenges to ensure marketing campaigns, events, and public relations activities are delivered effectively and on schedule. This position evaluates marketing performance data, website and content issues, and audience engagement trends to develop solutions that improve outreach, strengthen brand visibility, and support the museum’s strategic goals.

The Marketing Coordinator has a significant impact on colleagues by providing strategic communication support, promotional resources, and timely information that help departments successfully deliver exhibitions, educational programs, special events, and community initiatives. There is a great deal of impact on the division, and some in regard to the larger campus, especially in the way of cross promotions.


Interactions


This position maintains frequent and ongoing contact with the Executive Director, museum staff, University of Nebraska Kearney departments, media representatives, vendors, community partners, donors, members, and the general public to coordinate marketing initiatives, disseminate information, support promotional activities, manage communications, and advance the museum’s outreach and engagement objectives.

This person answers directly to the Executive Director and receives continuous direction and accountability. They are colleague, but also in some ways serve the needs of their colleagues at the Museum.
