Partner with data architects, business analysts and data stewards to translate business requirements into technical, end-to-end data solutions.  Write business requirements, write design specifications, develop data maps, and perform testing with data stewards. Analyze and modify the reporting applications to adapt them to the university’s business needs and add enhanced functionality to store, manage, and track data related to all aspects of the university’s mission and operations, and to support reporting and analysis.  Develop APIs, Web Services and files to integrate systems, cloud environments, and vendor-sourced data and systems.  Apply standards, privacy rules, and governance policies.

Work with Information Technology Services and data stewards to identify key data sources and required data elements. In consultation with technical resources, develop plan to design,  build and test reporting applications, data pipelines and integrations to meet campus needs. Resolve issues related to integration of data from disparate sources, and/or develop alternate solutions. 

Research, evaluate and recommend solutions to data integration issues. Act as subject matter expert and liaison with business partners on data integration topics enabling them to understand data requirements, flow, and philosophy.  Create physical and logical data models, monitor data quality to resolve integrity issues and maintain database dictionaries.

Assist in managing Web FOCUS administration and perform all duties of lead report writer and analyst. Create and manage Web FOCUS security and access roles. Manage provisioning and deprovisioning of role assignments to stakeholders in accordance with compliance requirements.  Provide operational support for data processes, troubleshoot pipeline features, and optimize database and query performance.

Demonstrates a solid understanding of business intelligence and design specifications for highly customizable software applications. Ability to analyze data sources and plan integration processes to accomplish stakeholder requirements. Under the direction of and in partnership with the NU ITS Security team, implement and maintain security strategies, policies, and standards to protect University assets. Responsible for actively researching and reviewing security practices to make recommendations based on institutional risk and operational impact.

The timeliness of problem resolution frequently determines when users can proceed with their tasks. The quality of the solution can affect the productivity of the users. Since this position works with many campus departments, it can affect the work of many employees. In the act of evaluating hardware and software, wrong choices may have direct financial impact.
