Strategies extend beyond traditional models of responding to calls for service and often seek to increase crime prevention, intervention, and response effectiveness through techniques such as community outreach, efficient resource distribution, crime data collection, or suspect location.

The nature and extent of interaction between officers and those on campus varies by whether the contact was initiated by the police or by the person on campus. These contacts occur for many reasons: police provide services to community members; residents seek information or report crimes to police officers; people on campus are passengers or drivers during a traffic stop; police could stop community members in public places for suspicious behavior and make arrests.

This position exercises minimal supervision over Community Service Officers. This position receives minimal supervision from Sergeants and Chief.
