Responsibilities and Duties

Front Desk and Patient Services Coordination35X

Serve as a welcoming greeter, schedules appointments, register patients, collect NUID and patient insurance information.  Ensures workspace and reception area is kept tidy and free from clutter presenting a professional environment. Answers multi-line telephone and responds to routine inquiries or direct calls appropriately.  Refers calls to nurses or provider from students regarding illness, procedures, etc., and from parents or medical offices regarding medical problems or reports. Is responsible for all medical scheduling to include patient appointments and referrals. Provides customer service to internal and external customers.

Communication, Documentation, and Patient Intake Management35X

Checks emails on a regular basis to ensure proper and timely communication, manages voicemails, online appointment requests, and faxes. Records and collects all pertinent facts accurately from students related to medical concerns. Records patient demographics and insurance information for all encounters. Scans and files all documents into electronic health record. Communicates pertinent appointment information including clinic location, parking appointment arrival time and monies due at the time of service.

New Student Enrollment and Immunization Compliance Coordination15X

Coordinates and manages all aspects of New Student Enrollment, UNK Global (MMRs, T spots draws) admissions and Transfer Days as it relates to the Student Health clinic. Processes all incoming pre-enrollment health information and immunization records and monitors them for compliance with campus health requirements.  Place holds on student files not in compliance.  Scan/upload information into EMR.

Patient Billing, Insurance, and Payment Processing10X

Request, collect, process and deposit payments from patients using EMR.  Maintain cash drawer according to university policy. Track the opt-in students. Responsible for collecting insurance information, obtaining prior authorizations, and documents appropriately in patient records

Must have knowledge of general medical terms related to the operation of health clinic. Must be able to use a variety of communication devices including telephone, computer, written and verbal skills to effectively communicate with a variety of individuals.
