The IT Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the department’s IT team, including personnel responsible for GIS, CCTV, access control, and general computing systems. The position manages staff recruitment, training, coaching, performance evaluation, and corrective actions as needed. The director facilitates regular staff meetings, communicates departmental goals, and monitors team performance. Serving as a key liaison, this role coordinates with other university departments and external public safety agencies to ensure effective IT collaboration, system interoperability, and policy alignment.

In this role, the director is responsible for the overall management of the department’s IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, networks, and cloud services. The position ensures system reliability and efficient support for day-to-day operations. The director develops and updates the IT strategic plan to align with departmental priorities and university-wide IT policies. They oversee procurement and lifecycle management of hardware and software, coordinate with central IT where appropriate, and implement business continuity and disaster recovery plans to minimize service disruptions.

The IT Director leads the strategic planning, procurement, and management of public safety technology systems, including records management systems (RMS), computer-aided dispatch (CAD), digital evidence platforms, and related law enforcement applications. The director collaborates with the GIS team to ensure GIS tools are fully integrated into crime mapping, incident tracking, and university-wide operations GIS applications. In this capacity, the director evaluates new technologies, oversees project implementation, and ensures software platforms are configured and supported to meet evolving law enforcement requirements. 

Physical Security Systems15X

This role oversees the implementation, maintenance, and support of all physical security infrastructure, including video surveillance (CCTV), electronic card access systems, and central monitoring platforms. The IT Director ensures all installations and upgrades meet university security standards, are cost-effective, and serve operational needs. Responsibilities include managing vendor relationships, overseeing project timelines and quality control, and ensuring systems are compliant with privacy, retention, and disaster recovery policies. The director also supervises the maintenance of secure networks supporting these systems and ensures readiness for real-time response.
